There are quite a few large photos in here, so be prepared!

Perfect Packaging #2 » DVD Case | 02.01.10

By Mark Geisser

From his portfolio:

Background:
Generally, when someone leaves my studio, has their birthday, has a baby, etc I “have” to do something for them… Sometimes it’s a t-shirt, sometimes a mixed-CD, sometimes just a card… As much as I’m not crazy about the obligation, I always end up doing something that I enjoy and that ultimately the recipient can enjoy…

Result:
This package, including 2 DVD’s and a card/poster, was for an account intern that was a lot of fun and a lot of laughs.. She enjoyed the same old/new British comedy series’ that I do, so I thought I’d make a couple of DVD’s with them on it…

Holiday Happiness: Top 5 | 12.08.09

Even though I really don’t like the cold weather, I do enjoy the holidays. I love being around family, getting cards in the mail, decorating and, my favorite, eating tons of food. Here are my top five holiday favorites that never fail to make me happy.

Tree Lights

1. Lights wrapped around tree trunks. Gosh, I find this so beautiful. There’s nothing I love more than seeing trees all lit up downtown.

Jayne’s Business Card | 11.24.09

Jayne’s House Cleaning Business Card
I was walking around downtown today and stopped into a coffee shop for a minute. While I was waiting for my drink I found this little business card sitting on a shelf. I think this is just the cutest thing ever and to have a letterpress business card? Very nice.

I’m sure this was done at Yee Haw Industries which is an awesome letterpress shop here in Knoxville. I haven’t verified it’s from there for sure, but judging by the quality of this card I’m sure it was.

And yeah, the card is hanging out on my Christmas tree for the photo. And no, I’m not one of those people who put it up super early… I just never took it down from last year.

Tim Burton at MoMA | 11.23.09

Tim Burton has an exhibit going on at MoMA until April 2010. I want to go so incredibly bad, but until then, these photos will have to do. I’ve always loved his movies (even when the Joker dances to Prince) and his drawings have such a great feel to them. This video is the man himself talking about his works and I especially love the part about the striped socks.

I have grabbed these from various photographers. Just click on them to go to the source.

Chip Kidd & Artbreak | 11.19.09

I found these Chip Kidd videos over at pikaland & I had to share. I was first introduced to Chip Kidd by one of my design professors, Todd Duren.

He passed around Chip’s book, The Cheese Monkeys and put some of his book covers up on the projection screen and I was instantly into them. It was neat because I had seen a lot of his cover designs at bookstores and was always drawn to them, but didn’t realize they were all by the same guy.

Anyway, apparently Chip has started a band and that’s what these videos are about. I think the song is pretty good, I love his voice and I couldn’t help but smile while watching him bounce around in the video. The first video will introduce you to Chip Kidd the designer & the second video is his song “Asymmetrical Girl”.
