Designer Spotlight: Elizaveta & Ekaterina | 02.15.10

How great are these spreads by Elizaveta & Ekaterina Solomeina? The colors, layout & type are lookin’ sharp and make me want to read everything on the page. This is a perfect example of effective information design. Check out more photos of this project at http://www.behance.net/Gallery/Break-fast-news/276436.

Designer Spotlight: Chris Brett | 01.15.10

I found these super cool painted spray paint cans by Chris Brett while bumming around one morning on Behance. I love his style, the colors and the presentation. Everything about these are great & think they’d look amazing all lined up on a shelf just hanging out.

Designer Spotlight: Alberto Cerriteño | 12.16.09

Alberto Cerriteño

Alberto Cerriteño is an extremely talented designer, illustrator & painter living in Portland. I came across his work while doing random searches on Flickr and I was blown away. The color combination he uses is amazing and his style is like nothing I’ve seen before.

I love that a lot of his work is created just by using coffee & ink, like these two above. I had a hard time choosing which pieces of his work to use in this post because they were all so nice. I suggest visitng his Flickr page & Esty shop, which has some very reasonably priced prints, just to check out all his work.

This silk screened book by Andy Smith is so great. I love his style which is just so extremely fun and bright! You can buy the book on his website here.

Chip Kidd & Artbreak | 11.19.09

I found these Chip Kidd videos over at pikaland & I had to share. I was first introduced to Chip Kidd by one of my design professors, Todd Duren.

He passed around Chip’s book, The Cheese Monkeys and put some of his book covers up on the projection screen and I was instantly into them. It was neat because I had seen a lot of his cover designs at bookstores and was always drawn to them, but didn’t realize they were all by the same guy.

Anyway, apparently Chip has started a band and that’s what these videos are about. I think the song is pretty good, I love his voice and I couldn’t help but smile while watching him bounce around in the video. The first video will introduce you to Chip Kidd the designer & the second video is his song “Asymmetrical Girl”.
